Did you have a good relaxing bank holiday? Think of our intrepid cyclists this weekend as they begin their 250 bike ride across Romania. So think of  Steve,  Neil, Bernard, Susann and David. Sponsor them or send your money to the office.
 
And we are collecting for Cry in the Dark at Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock. We will be there from 9am - 5pm. Come and say hello if you are in the area. We have 3 people who went to Romania this summer, our Hard Hatters, so have a chat with Annette, Terry or Colin, depending on what time you arrive. They have their own stories to tell, and I have persuaded them all to do a write up. Terry's blog is below.

Reminder to everyone that the Prize Draw will be finishing on 31st August 2010. The winner will be announced next week. Only 5 days to enter.
 
We have had visits at the office from Terry and Geoff, who went on the Hard Hat Challenge 8th - 14th August, as well as phone calls from Colin. Not only did they have a great time, but have been in contact with each other sending photos and recalling stories. It had been a very moving experience, and one which they all have treasured in different ways. The stories and photo's are to follow.
 
It may be too late to join Bike Romania, but you can sponsor these lovely people who are cycling 250 miles in 4 days. You have a choice, Steve,  Neil, Bernard, Susann and David send your money to the office, as they do not have a Justgiving Page. Just let us know who you are sponsoring.

Welcome back to the latest group of Hard Hatters who have come back from Romania. They have worked so hard to get everything done, and they also had a great deal of fun too.

 

Kingsland Mission will be travelling out tomorrow, the last of the planned work groups.

It was so good to meet so many supporters and friends of Cry in the Dark at Revive, a bible week held at Ashburnham.  Mike and I spoke to quite a few people, who were going to write to us here, or support us by becoming Cry Partners.

Are you shopping on Saturday September 4th? Why not combine shopping at Lakeside Shopping Centre with collecting money for Cry in the Dark. Contact the office if you want to volunteer for a 2 hour slot.

 

Would you like to come to Romania in December for a concert and to hand out shoe boxes? We already have 6 people who have expressed an interest in coming. It will be a very special time for the people you will be meeting and for you too.

 

This weekend the people who are in Romania now, will be leaving and a youth group from Kingsland Church will be flying out. Thank you to everyone who has already been and the work you have done.

 The tree of life picture is in the reception area of Hospice Casa Albert and is blossoming nicely. Patients, volunteers and staff were asked to paint their hand and make a leaf for the tree, They wrote their names and date against each one. It is beautiful.

Monday morning and the serious work begins at Casa Lumina. The goal for today was to plasterboard the ceiling to the large bedroom. The Romanian authorities·said that the current ceiling didn't meet with fire regualtions, so a fire resistant plasterboard layer had to be installed.·Fortunately in our midst we have the very capable Alan Harris who is a carpenter by trade and is on his seventh mission to Romania.·By the close of a very hot and sweaty day, the goal had been reached thanks to Alan’s great leadership.·Looking back at a very satisfying days work, we·proved that a team effort can be invaluable.·
