Ten Years of Cry in the Dark

Saturday 29th May 2010 10 Year Celebrations of Casa Lumina

Cry in the Dark had a great opening ceremony of the new homes and 10th Anniversay celebrations of Casa Lumina. See our facebook site for more photographs. Since the summer of 2009 over 80 volunteers, and the staff from Casa Lumina, have helped to build the two new homes.  Thank you once again to every one who made this happen.

Saturday 29th of May, friends from England and Romania joined us for the celebrations. The local mayor and people from local government agencies were also invited.  It was a fantastic day of thanksgiving and dedication. We were delighted the young people contributed, and make the day extra special by singing so beautifully for all the visitors. After the dedication the homes were officially opened by the Major, with the help of Mariana and Steve Cooper cutting the red ribbon. The guests were invited to look at the new homes, and they very impressed and thought the new homes were lovely.

The guests departed after they had eaten, but for the rest of us this turned into the best part of the day. Mariana informed us that the young people were so excited that they wouldn't go into their beds for their afternoon nap. So the decision was made to allow them to move into their new rooms there and then. Almost immediately the door swung open and in a very excited line, the girls marched into the corridor of their new home. Before they went into their rooms Mariana got them to sing Happy Birthday to Alina, as May the 29th was her 25th birthday. Then the girls were split into two groups of 6 and taken into their new rooms.

It was a beautiful moment and everyone was so excited, but calm at the same time. There was a real sense of peace in the home. We have been praying for God to make the transition peaceful and calm for the young people as we were aware it could unsettle them, but the girls couldn't have been better behaved. In fact they all changed into their new pyjama's and tucked themselves down into bed. It was a truly beautiful moment and one I know will never be forgotten by the people there. We praise God for the work he has done in their lives and for allowing us to be part of it.

In case you were wondering, we haven't forgotten the boys. Their rooms will be changing too. More to follow!
